why are there such complicated overlaps in the sound libraries anyways?Ī logic user should have the option to uninstall garageband completely, leaving only the content for logic, because there is really no use for the garageband app if you got logic. this also should include all the content from garageband as well. why is that? and can it be moved to an external disk? and should i do this before or after downloading the whole alchemy sound library?)Ĭan anybody please make an ultimate guide on what files can be moved from their respective locations to an external drive using symlinks to free up as much space as possible.

(edit: most of it seems to be the new "alchemy samples" which get a folder of their own in library->application support->logic. and now i have to watch the basic content download again. However logic 10.2 seems to have broken this once again.
#Symlinker not working logic update#
The update to logic 10.1 seemed to have respected this and automatically installed all the new drumer content to the respective locations via the symlinks onto the external disk. Just finished downloading logic 10.2 and wanted to start it for a test drive, but once again logic insists on downloading the "basic content" again for no reason.Įver since older versions of logic i used to move all the big chunks of logic, like the loop libraries and the sampler instruments to an external disk using symlinks.
